Having just started working for the Ambius UK Team as a Digital Marketing Executive, it was exciting to be tasked to go ‘straight on the tools’ within my first week of joining the business.
The Journey
It all started with a comprehensive Health and Safety talk. This was to make sure I appreciated the variety of important guidelines we have to adhere to as part of the Ambius team. UK Marketing Manager Prettpal Somel then set out with me on a road trip from Dudley down to Bristol. I spent the day with the Ambius Bristol team. On the way we had very productive discussions about the day’s busy schedule, upcoming business plans and details about the processes and variety of products and services Ambius offers our customers.
The Introduction
Once we arrived at our Bristol base I was introduced to the team of technicians who work from the Bristol site. They happily shared with me a variety of skills and information about the job they are skilled and experienced at. I learnt how they work together as a team. Also, how they balance and share different tasks between themselves. This is to ensure the work is completed efficiently and effectively on time. They showed me the different equipment and materials used and the reasons they use them. An example being Leca for planting up, as a lightweight growing medium.
The Learning and Implementation Stage
The technicians that are a part of the Ambius team travel across the whole country to carry out professional plant installations. I had the opportunity to observe and help assist in the tasks they were carrying out. This included preparing the pots and plants before putting them together. They showed me the processes that produce high quality designs in the work they do. The team were very friendly and informative. They are also very passionate about what they do, which made my experience very valuable and enjoyable.
The Installation and Completion Stage
After we completed putting together the plant displays and setting them up, we then put them in the van to take to the client’s premises, where we successfully installed the new plant displays into different parts of the building. During the installation the team were also making sure the new plants were looking their best, they were watering the displays and cleaning up after themselves. This particular install was done after work, with the intention of it being completed before our customer’s staff came back in the morning.
Quality Check and Returning Home
Once we the team were happy, we made sure everything was clear and the customer was happy with the finished look. After all that, tired but content, Prett and myself travelled back up the road to Dudley.
