Priming your workplace for World Green Building Week

You know a topic is important when there’s an entire week dedicated to it. If there’s just one day given to something, on the other hand, it’s probably not all that vital. After all, every May 2nd is National Truffle Day and National Life Insurance Day, and who cares about either of those?

But with the environment at the top of the global agenda, World Green Building Week will be kicking off on the 16th September – and it’s far more important than a day about truffles.

Bringing together 98 countries, representing 25,000 organisations and playing host to over 220 events, the week has been in the A-list on the eco-calendar since its launch in 2010.

As national tabloid newspaper Metro reported during last year’s Green Building Week, a healthier building makes for healthier employees.

According to their report, workers gain 25 per cent better memory function when they have access to something as simple as a view from a window, and office plants increase their productivity by up to 38 per cent, boost wellbeing by up to 47 per cent and increase creativity by up to 45 per cent.

You might be getting the gist of why green buildings are getting their own week – their benefits are almost endless.

With a few months to go until the world celebrates greener, healthier buildings, now is the perfect time to turn your workplace from a carbon footprint nightmare to an eco-friendly mecca.

Start by investing in a few plants from us and who knows? You might make “greener” mean “better”.
